Program Overview

Designed to advance women in leadership roles across the profession, our Women’s Leadership Program connects you with an experienced mentor to help you take the next step in your career and plug into new networks.

You’ll be guided by our Career Leadership Program Manager who’ll keep you curious, motivated and moving towards your goals. You’ll also gain access to a full resource library of information, videos, templates and attend events to help you get the most out of the experience.

How it works

We match mentees with mentors based on location, experience level, speciality and professional development needs. You’ll both be asked to fill out a survey to help us find the right match.

To be eligible as a mentee, you must:

  • be a current financial PIA member
  • be working in a planning role
  • attend the opening and closing event
  • complete online training (two hours of self-paced learning worth two CPD points)
  • share career goals with your mentor
  • commit to driving the relationship and set up meetings and agendas
  • be respectful of the mentor’s time and generosity by attending at least 10 mentoring sessions
  • be willing to be grow beyond your comfort zone

To be eligible as a mentor, you must:

  • be a current financial PIA member
  • have at least 10 years’ experience as a Planner
  • attend the opening and closing event
  • get PIA Mentor Accreditation through online training (two hours of self-paced learning worth two CPD points)
  • attend at least 10 mentoring sessions with your mentee
  • be available to provide occasional support over the phone or email

Costs and inclusions

Once matched, mentees will pay an upfront fee of $345 (inc GST).

This fee is tax deductible as a professional development expense and covers:

  • a dedicated program facilitator;
  • training modules accruing CPD points;
  • program events;
  • program webinars and recordings; and
  • access to a dedicated online portal with resources, tools, surveys and feedback facilities

If we can’t find you a suitable match, you won’t need to pay the fee and can apply again. If you leave the program after the first month, you won’t be eligible for a refund.

How to join

Applications for the Mentoring program are now open. Next Intake starting in July 2023.

Structure

Every mentoring relationship is different. It’s up to you to decide the structure for your program at your first meeting. Be clear on your objectives and make sure you’re prepared for each session.

CPD points

Mentors and mentees will be awarded a maximum of 12 points including:

  • One point per meeting of minimum 1-hour duration
  • Two points for completing the online training
