About the Opportunity

To help us achieve this we are seeking a strategic thinker with a passion for leading diverse teams and have a background in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Asset Management, or related fields, to join us as the Spaces and Places Manager. You will lead a dedicated team to achieve positive outcomes for the community, committed to creating and maintaining social infrastructure that serves the needs of present and future generations.
As the Spaces and Places Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the planning, designing, delivery and management of social infrastructure projects including open spaces, sporting facilities, playgrounds, parks, community halls, library infrastructure, and community assets. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing overall team and develop a cultural of a high performance.
- Oversee the planning, design, delivery and management of social infrastructure projects that meet the needs of the present and future generations.
- Oversee our approach to strategic planning and master planning for social infrastructure.
- Coordinate the management, operation, and maintenance of a significant portfolio of Council’s recreational infrastructure assets, open space areas, community and operational building assets, property services as well as management of trees on public and private land.
- Manage contracts for key recreational infrastructure including aquatic facilities and stadiums.
- Support procurement process to support the organisational outcomes.
- Guide and ensure a safety culture.
To succeed in this role you will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Asset Management, or related fields.
- Outstanding planning of organisation skills with experience in establishing priorities, allocating resources, supporting staff, meeting deadlines with a complex organisation.
- Proven experience in project management, contract management, and financial planning.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and provide visionary leadership.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in asset management and program development.
- A passion for creating spaces that contribute to the well-being of the community.
Remuneration and Benefits
Employment Type: Full time, Permanent 35 hours per week
Salary (exclusive of super): In the range of $118,326 to $133,188 depending on skills and experience
This role also qualifies for a leaseback or vehicle allowance
