About the role:
As a Level 6 Town Planner in our development assessment team, you can start your leadership journey while helping to shape the built-form future of our region. This role involves supervision and mentoring to our Level 3-5 planners and other para-planner positions.
In addition, you will also be working on the assessment of large and/or complex development applications against Council’s planning scheme.
Our Planning Branch strives for continual improvement and offers a supportive team environment where you can mentor and be mentored, while dealing with a range of exciting and challenging projects.
Urban and Regional Planners are on the eligible skilled occupations list (Skilled Nominated – subclass 190), so for the right candidate, Toowoomba Regional Council will sponsor your visa for rights to live and work in Australia.

This is a full-time permanent, Level 6 town planner position with a salary between $91,002.71 and $97,075.32 plus:

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Town Planning, Urban or Regional Planning that can be recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) as equivalent to an Australian university town planning degree, either at an undergraduate or postgraduate level.
- Ability to assess and process development applications and prepare associated correspondence and reports
- Demonstrated time management and organisational skills,
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of legislation applicable to development assessment in local government in Queensland, or the ability to quickly acquire same due to relevant experience in other jurisdictions or settings.
