Development Assessment Opportunities
Situated an hour south of Brisbane and an hour inland from the Gold Coast is the Scenic Rim Region. A thriving rural paradise and a popular tourist destination known for breathtaking scenery including six national parks, world heritage listed Gondwana Rainforests, local produce, wineries, art galleries and state of the art equine facilities. The region offers a high standard of services and facilities without the traffic.
The Scenic Rim Regional Council covers an area of 425sq km, provides services to a population of more than 40,000 and employs over 470 people.
Council currently has three exciting opportunities available within their Development Assessment Team.
Team Leader Development Assessment
The Team Leader Development Assessment is responsible for the management of the Development Assessment Team, comprising of 4 direct reports. As well as overseeing the development assessment functions, the Team Leader will assist with appeals management and processing major development applications of high community interest. There will also be opportunities to act within the role of the Principal Specialist Development Assessment and Engineering. Council is seeking an individual with strong leadership, negotiation and presentation skills with substantial experience working as a senior member of a development assessment team, ideally within Local Government.
Senior Development Assessment Planner
The Senior Development Assessment Planner will be responsible for supporting the development assessment planners as a senior member of the development assessment team, undertaking assessment of development applications of a higher complexity, engaging with other areas of Council on compliance and strategic planning related projects, and assisting on planning appeals. To be successful in this role you will possess strong experience in the area of development assessment with the ability to evaluate and formulate solutions to planning issues of a high complexity.
Development Assessment Planner
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate town planner looking for their first role in the industry or junior planner looking to expand their skills and knowledge. You must possess the ability to interpret legislation, strong analytical and communication skills with the desire to learn and grow.
