About the award

The Dr Helen Proudfoot Women in Planning Award recognises women’s contributions to planning outcomes, policy and practice. Dr Helen Proudfoot demonstrated a tireless determination to enhance planning policy and practice through a commitment to understanding and celebrating ‘place’ and working across disciplines to develop integrated and place-based plans for Metropolitan Sydney.

This award is presented to a female planner who has made an outstanding contribution to planning in NSW in 2023. Nomination criteria includes: Demonstrated outstanding commitment to planning work; demonstrated outstanding support and contribution towards others in the planning profession in NSW and a personal statement detailing how the nominee has had a positive impact on their colleagues, work processes or the planning profession in NSW.

Eligibility

The Dr Helen Proudfoot Women In Planning Award is an individual award and women planners of all age groups and ranges of experience are eligible for nomination and award. PIA membership is not a requirement for nomination. We invite you to nominate yourself, a female colleague, friend or peer.

Selection Criteria

The judges will be looking for nominations who can demonstrate a positive impact through their work during 2023, based on the following criteria:

• The nominee’s demonstrated outstanding recent contribution to the planning profession in NSW at any level (for example in the professional workspace, volunteer work or mentoring role); and

• An activity or project that demonstrates the nominee’s outstanding commitment and impact to the planning outcomes of urban and/ or regional NSW in 2023; and

• The nominator’s testimonial outlining the way the nominee has championed planning (if you have nominated yourself, the testimonial should be provided by a colleague, peer or mentor).

Please submit the completed nomination form provided below along with a written statement addressing the selection criteria (max. 300 words for each criterion) via email to nsw@planning.org.au.
